Chippewa Pemmican is a native American survival food. We chose the Chippewa recipe which consists of 1/3rd ground up beef jerky, 1/3 crushed nuts and berries 1/3 beef fat and a bit of honey to sweeten. It’s high in protein and delicious; historically it would be buried in places so if the tribe had no luck hunting, they would know where food stashes were buried for use in emergencies. It lasts for many years – some 350 year old Pemmican was even discovered recently buried in raw hide in the prairie that was still edible!
